From the Owl’s Nest – Celestial Observations Occurring We made it to October, good job! Did you enjoy the Harvest Moon this month? The Orionids meteor showers are still happening. We’re experiencing the remnants of Tropical storm Nate so our skies here in New England will be overcast for a while. Fortunately the meteor shower goes through November 14th. The next round of meteor showers are the Northern Taurids. They are from October 19th to December 10th. I must admit I’m not familiar with these. The other meteor shower that’s coming I am familiar with. They are the Leonids and they are active from November 5th to November 30th. These meteor showers are the debris from earlier visits of the comet Tempel-Tuttle. |
