“Off The Mountain Top Blog Post Series

Frequent readers of our blog will have notice that we often publish posts on the teachings and uses of The Practice in everyday life. As Susan writes, “Most of us have heard the phrase that it’s easier to be Holy when you live on a mountain top but most of us don’t have that luxury. We have jobs, family, cellphones, bosses, soccer games, hockey games, yoga classes, … That holy thing would be easy if we didn’t have to interact with the modern World.”

Newer readers may have missed some of our earlier posts on the subject, so we invite you to read (or re-read!) the “Life Off The Mountain Top” series.

Life Off the Mountaintop, Part 2

The Holidays, that glorious time of the year when families and friends get together and compete for who can be the most obnoxious or who can hold their tongue the longest. Not a Hallmark moment to be sure. It can be a very trying time for all. And here you are wanting to impart upon them the new wisdom you’ve …

Life Off the Mountaintop, Part 3

Life Off the Mountaintop, Part 3

Aside from family gatherings, one of the most difficult places to practice is at work. It may help to think of the people at work as an extended family and treat them the same way I described in the last post. You may end up with a large cabinet of “Stupid Files”, or you can turn it around and use …

Life Off the Mountaintop, Part 4 – Gift Giving

An appropriate topic for the upcoming holidays and really any time of the year is the wonderful ritual of gift giving. This is where everyone shows us just how little they know about the person that they’re buying a gift for. No one’s immune to it. Spouses, parents, friends and co-workers all think that they know what the person they’re …

Life Off the Mountaintop Part 5 – Working with the Energy of the Moon, Part 1

One of the ways to bring The Practice into your everyday life is to be aware of the Moon and the various phases it goes through during the month. Most people accept that we’re affected by the moon, especially during the full moon. For people wanting to do energy work, you may be interested in knowing that the Full Moon’s …

Life Off the Mountaintop (a slight diversion)

I’m making a slight diversion to the Moon energy thread. I’ll return to that next time. Some of you may know that my Mother recently passed. Most of the time I can focus on the positive aspects of her passing. She was 85, had a great life and was doing what she wanted to do even four days prior to …

Life Off the Mountaintop and Up to the Moon! Working with the Energy of the Moon Part 2 – Full Moon Names

As a follow-up to my last blog on working with the energies of the phases of the moon in a given month, I’ll be talking about the names of the full moons for 2017 in this post. Many cultures have their own names for the full moons that occur. The ones that most people are familiar with come from the …

Still off the Mountain Top….and diving into that messy bowl called Responsibility

I’m sure that got some people responding in all sorts of ways. There are those who go out of their way to shun any and all responsibility in their lives. I know a few people like this. They’re “Just along for the ride”. I have no sympathy for these people when they don’t like what happens in their life and …
